QGHS Sport
Badminton
Badminton was introduced in 2012 and has become popular among many girls at QGHS. Badminton is a sport that encourages the player to possess good hand-eye co-ordination and to be able to hit the shuttlecock accurately. It is also very similar to Tennis, although, in Badminton, the court space is smaller and is played largely indoors.
In 2015 our learners played in the Badminton league and performed very well. Our team also played in the South African Schools Badminton Tournament, held at the KZN Badminton Hall, in August last year. Although our learners were not placed, the tournament proved to be a valuable learning experience in terms of skill and technique..

Drum majorettes combine athletic discipline with creative performance, showcasing teamwork, coordination, and school spirit. This vibrant sport allows our girls to shine both on the field and in parades, building confidence and camaraderie through synchronized movement and striking displays.
Rugby
Introduced in 2026, Contact Rugby brings power, resilience, and teamwork to our school’s sporting arena. This dynamic sport challenges players to combine strength with strategy, building confidence and courage both on and off the field. Beyond competition, it fosters unity, leadership, and pride, as our girls embrace the spirit of rugby and break new ground in a traditionally male-dominated game.
